What is a PDF zu Word?
A PDF is meant to look the same everywhere, which also makes it deliberately hard to edit — if you need to actually change the text in a contract, report, or resume that only exists as a PDF, converting it to an editable Word document first is faster than retyping it from scratch. Scanned pages are detected automatically before conversion — since a scan is just an image until OCR recognizes the characters in it, converting one straight to Word without that step produces a .docx with no editable text at all, just an embedded picture. This tool catches that case and offers OCR instead of silently handing back an unusable file.

Is my file sent to a server?
Yes — unlike most tools on this site, this conversion needs software (LibreOffice/Ghostscript/a headless browser) that can't run in your browser, so the file is uploaded, converted on our server, and then deleted. It's not stored beyond the time it takes to process your request.
Is there a file size limit?
Free use covers files up to 100MB per file; signing up for Pro raises that to 500MB.
Will my document look exactly the same after converting?
Close, but not guaranteed pixel-perfect. Conversion uses LibreOffice's rendering engine rather than Word/PowerPoint/Excel itself, so complex layouts, unusual fonts, or advanced formatting can shift slightly — check the result before relying on it for anything final.
Does this work on scanned PDFs and photos of documents?
A scanned page is just an image with no underlying text, so without extra help it converts to a Word document you can't actually edit or search. This tool detects that automatically before you convert and offers OCR (optical character recognition) to add a real, selectable text layer first — it's on by default when scanning is detected, but you can convert as-is instead if you'd rather keep the original page images untouched.
Will tables in my PDF become real, editable Word tables?
Not reliably, and it's worth knowing that upfront: the underlying conversion engine (LibreOffice's PDF import) generally reconstructs a PDF's layout as positioned text and image blocks rather than a native Word table object — visually similar, but you can't add or remove rows/columns the way you could with a table built in Word. If precise, structurally-real tables matter, treat this as a starting point to clean up rather than a guaranteed 1:1 conversion.
What happens to my file after conversion?
It's deleted from our temporary storage within about 2 hours of the job finishing, whether or not you downloaded the result.
